Bordered by two raging rivers, called simply "The Butte" by locals, Butte, Alaska's most immediately noticeable landmark is Bodenberg Butte itself, a miniature mountain rising alone out of the flat glacially formed agriculturally rich farmlands that were the settlement of Palmer's early colonists. The Butte was named after the first farmer who settled in the area, John Bodenberg.
In 1994 an RV was pushed off of the the cliffs of the Butte, burning, to explode for a scene in the independently produced movie "Out of the Wilderness". I just read that online in a wonderfully informative article by Debra McKinney of the Anchorage Daily News.
Now I HAVE to see that movie!
