NEW! Beaded Dragons PDF Print E-mail

I, being a true geek, have always loved dragons. I've drawn, painted, and sculpted too many to count. They're one of my favorite artistic subjects. I find a mysterious appeal in the combination of known forms, which results in altogether new beings. Other fictional creatures share the same intriguing quality, but dragons have always been my favorite.

I also love beads, but that's part of my heritage. I am of Native American descent, an enrolled tribal member. I began working with beads as soon as my mother could keep me from eating them, and have had a passion for beadwork ever since. I've held the role of both volunteer and professional bead work instructor.

I have always played with the idea of combining these two loves. So imagine my joy at discovering a tutorial written by a fellow member of the online artists community DeviantArt, by the username of "ChimeraDragonfang". I was even more elated to discover that it was based on a lizard design I am extremely familiar with, and in fact have been teaching to children for decades. Of course, I immediately began my first dragon, opting to work with wire instead of the thread used in her tutorial, for pose-ability. I am pleased with the outcome!Beaded Dragon in natural Setting
